The Problem Gambling Prevention and Treatment Coalition of SW OH advocates for prevention and treatment workforce development in Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Darke, Hamilton, Highland, Lawrence, Miami, Pike, Preble, Scioto, and Warren Counties and involvement from members in other Ohio counties and other states.
Our comprehensive objectives encompass increasing public awareness of problem gambling and the availability of prevention, treatment, and recovery services, motivating healthcare providers to incorporate problem gambling screening into client assessments, and equipping practicing Social Workers to provide problem gambling prevention and treatment services. We're also dedicated to preparing Social Work students for supervised delivery of these crucial services, facilitating BSW and MSW students in acquiring prevention credentials, focusing on problem gambling, suicide prevention, substance misuse prevention, and domestic violence prevention. Furthermore, we advocate for the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services to provide problem gambling treatment fellowships for LSWs, LISWs, and LISW-S, and advocate for colleges to be ready to address problem gambling challenges through education and training opportunities.
The Coalition is proud to be an active member of several local, state, and national organizations that support our mission and strengthen our community partnerships. We are members of the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky African American Chamber of Commerce (AACC), the Hamilton County Suicide Prevention Coalition, the Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA, the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA), and the Statewide Prevention Coalition Association (SPCA). Through these memberships, we collaborate with diverse networks to share resources, promote equity, and advance prevention efforts that create healthier, safer communities.

It is an honor to serve as this term’s President of the Coalition. As a treatment provider and educator, I have had the distinct privilege of studying and implementing strategies to reduce problem gambling behaviors and treat addiction, and I look forward to the progress we will make together! As awareness about problem gambling increases, prevention and treatment specialists, as well as communities at large, are gathering to provide resources and support. Welcome to the Problem Gambling Prevention and Treatment Coalition of Southwest Ohio, where we are striving to increase public awareness of problem gambling, including prevention and treatment resources, in our region! I am confident that we will continue to grow and the professionals in prevention, treatment, and education in the Coalition will engage the community to provide the resources and support so needed for problem gambling in our region. I am excited about the opportunity to participate in such an incredible endeavor, and look forward to working with each of you to reach our goals!
