The event will offer 3 continuing education units (CEUs) through the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board and the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.

Recognizing the Intersection of Substance Use Disorders and Problem Gambling
Presenter: Cynthia Chizewick, LISW-S, LICDC-CS, LICSW, GAMB

This session will explore the relationship between substance use disorders and problem gambling, including shared risk factors and co-occurring clinical presentations. Participants will also learn how to recognize indicators of gambling-related harm and incorporate gambling screening, referral, and treatment considerations into behavioral health practice.

Gambling Disorder Clinical Fellowship Presentation
Presenter: Eric M. Stone, MBA, LPCC-S, LICDC

This presentation will examine the distinctions between traditional gambling, speculative investing, and emerging forms of risk-taking. Topics will include the influence of religious beliefs, values, and community norms on attitudes toward gambling and financial risk, as well as the growing intersection of sports betting, online gambling, prediction markets, cryptocurrency speculation, and other high-risk financial activities.

The meeting will also include a presentation of the results from the Coalition’s participation in the Summer 2026 Ohio Coalition Institute Cohort, presented by Eric M. Stone, MBA, LPCC-S, LICDC.
